Train with bots, then play people

Use the 19 Vortex bots from an easy game toward Master, then add puzzles and one reviewed rated game.

What the bot list actually says

The experience lists 19 bots, from Beginner to Master, running on the Vortex chess engine. It does not publish the 19 names, a numeric rating for each bot, or a five-step menu of Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. Treat Beginner and Master as the stated ends of the range. Pick an easier bot until games stop ending on one-move blunders.

A player video titles one opponent as a 2800 ELO bot. That number is the video title. It is not printed on the Roblox description. Do not use 2800 as an official tier.

A route that matches the developer tip

The description says new players should start with an easy bot and work up to Master.

  1. Play several games on an easy bot. Goal: finish without hanging a piece in one move, and without leaving the king in check.
  2. Add one habit: before you move, look for checks, captures, and threats from both sides.
  3. Castle when the game allows it, and get knights and bishops off the back rank before you start an attack.
  4. Move to a harder bot only when you can explain the move that lost material.
  5. Use Master as a hard sparring partner, not as a gate you must clear before puzzles or rated games are "allowed".

Bot games are the right place to repeat an opening and to try castling, en passant, and promotion. They are a poor place to learn clock handling, because a rated opponent will spend your time for you.

Puzzles next to bots

There are more than 1,300 rated puzzles, with their own leaderboard. A bot game shows you a whole game. A puzzle shows you one position where a strong move exists. Do a small set after bot games, and review the ones you miss. Guessing a puzzle move teaches the highlight, not the pattern.

Then one rated game

Queue a person when piece selection is automatic. Prefer a slower control while you are still reading the board. The nine time controls exist. Their exact times are not on the experience page, so choose by the in-game label you see, not by a minute chart from this wiki.

After that game, open Game Review. The useful question is which move changed the position, not whether the result was a win.

Fair play

The 1 Elo Chess community owner posted that an anticheat system has fully rolled out, that it can have issues, and that players should report both missed cheaters and false bans. This wiki does not host auto-play tools. Play the moves yourself.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which clocks can I play?

The public leaderboards are Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, and Puzzles. The experience also says there are 9 time controls. The exact clock for each of those 9 is not printed on the game description, so this wiki does not assign minute values to them.

How do codes work?

The only code printed by the developer community is GROUPCODE, for free Tokens. Join 1 Elo Chess, open RoChess!, use Shop then Codes, and submit the code exactly. Several 18 October 2026 lists also name 1000LIKES, SOYSLOPGAMES, and CORDCODE, but those strings are not on the community description.

What should a new player do first?

Start with an easy bot, learn legal moves and king safety, then use puzzles before you queue a rated game. After the game, open Game Review and the Analysis Board. The developer tells new players to begin with an easy bot and work toward Master.

What is RoChess!?

RoChess! is a free Roblox experience by 1 Elo Chess. It is rated chess against other people, with 9 time controls, Game Review, an Analysis Board, more than 1,300 rated puzzles, 19 Vortex bots from Beginner to Master, and recognition for more than 3,800 openings.

Is RoChess! free?

Yes. The experience is free to join on Roblox. Tokens from codes are a separate reward, and this wiki does not have a published list of what Tokens buy.
